Real talk — we’ve been quiet on the live show front lately, and that’s intentional. We’re taking a breather from Whatnot shows while we restock, regroup, and level up. But “quiet” doesn’t mean idle. Behind the scenes? It’s been anything but chill. We’re expanding into new sales channels, firing up the laser for custom fandom merch, and building software that’s going to change how we (and maybe you) run a reselling business.
Let’s get into it.
Quick Backstory
We’re still pretty new at this. TechBinBytes launched in December, and we really started building out the vision at the end of January. Before any of this, we had a custom shop on Etsy back in 2019 — so online selling isn’t totally new to us, but this iteration of the business definitely is. Up until now, our focus has been on live auction through Whatnot. Now we’re branching out into a full multi-channel operation, and that means spreading our wings a bit.
The eBay Saga (aka “The Audacity of That Guy”)
So. eBay. If you’ve noticed we haven’t been active over there… yeah, there’s a story.
Our last significant eBay sale was a disaster movie. We sold a DJI action camera bundled with a set of Polar Pro filters — about $100 worth of filters on their own. The buyer hit us up saying he needed it by a certain date, so we hustled and shipped it out fast. Cool, right? Nope.
Dude turns around and opens a return. Fine, things happen. But when the package came back? The filters were gone. Just the camera in the box. A hundred bucks in accessories — poof, vanished into the void.
We tried everything. Filed claims, went through eBay’s process, tried to get insurance to cover it. Every single avenue came back with the same answer: tough luck. We were out the filters, out the money, and to top it all off — the guy left us our only negative feedback on the platform. The audacity.
That whole experience left such a bad taste that we basically ghosted eBay. When you’re a small operation and someone pulls that kind of move, it hits different. It’s not just the money — it’s the time, the frustration, and that sinking feeling that the system doesn’t have your back.
But We’re Back, Baby
Here’s the thing though — you can’t let one bad apple burn down the whole orchard. eBay is still massive, and there are buyers over there who will literally never find us on Whatnot or anywhere else. Leaving that audience untapped? That’s just leaving money on the table, and we don’t do that.
So we’re back on eBay, and we’re being way smarter about it this time. We’re cherry-picking what gets listed where, being more careful with high-value bundles, and tightening up our return policies. Lesson learned, moving forward.
Poshmark Enters the Chat
eBay’s not the only new (old?) channel we’re working. We’ve also been listing on Poshmark for fashion, accessories, and lifestyle items that just make more sense on that platform. Not everything belongs everywhere — a vintage Carhartt jacket hits different on Poshmark than it does on eBay, and vice versa.
Even with Whatnot shows on pause, having inventory moving across eBay, Poshmark, and our own shop means we’re still making sales. When we come back to live selling, the foundation underneath is going to be rock solid.
Laser Go BRRR — Custom Fandom Merch is Coming

OK this is the part where things get really fun. We’ve been spending a lot of time at the Glowforge Pro, and we’re not just prototyping anymore — we’re building out a whole custom product line for the fandom market.
We’re talking custom shirts, laser-engraved stickers, plaques, signs, display pieces — all the kind of stuff that fans actually want on their shelves, walls, and desks. Think gaming references, anime vibes, collectible culture, pop culture deep cuts. The kind of merch that makes you point at it and say “oh that’s sick.”
If you read our earlier posts, you know we’ve been pursuing a licensing deal with Fanatics. We brought samples to our meeting — two-tone acrylic, gold mirror pieces, wood veneer stickers, and more — and we’re now in the follow-up phase. More designs, more material testing, more dialing in what we can produce at scale. Fanatics is where we’re starting, but the plan is to expand licensing over time and bring officially licensed fandom merch into everything we do — our shop, our live shows, everywhere.
The Glowforge Pro continues to be our workhorse, and honestly every session on it unlocks something new. We’re learning what materials work best for different products, what finishes pop the hardest, and how to go from concept to finished piece as efficiently as possible.
ProjectX — The Secret Weapon for Whatnot Sellers
We’ve also been making serious progress on the software platform we’ve been building. I talked about it in our last update, but let me go deeper — because this thing is shaping up to be special.
We’re calling it ProjectX for now. The real name and domain are locked in, but we’re not ready to pull the curtain back just yet.
At its core, ProjectX is an all-in-one platform built specifically for Whatnot sellers. The tools that exist today for live sellers are either too basic, too expensive, or built by people who don’t actually sell on the platform. We do sell on the platform. We know exactly what’s missing. So we’re building it ourselves.
Here’s what’s under the hood:
Inventory Management — Full tracking with categories, conditions, cost basis, estimated values, SKUs, and photo storage. Know what you have, what it cost, and where it is at all times. No more mystery boxes of “wait, did I already sell that?”
Show Planning — Build your lineup before you go live. Assign items to shows, set segments, define starting bids and buy-it-now prices, reorder on the fly. Walk into every show with a game plan instead of winging it.
Payout Tracking & Analytics — Import your Whatnot payout data and automatically match sales back to inventory. See your real margins after platform fees and shipping. Track performance across shows so you can see what’s actually making money and what’s just making noise.
AI-Powered Content Creation — This is the big one. ProjectX includes a full creative studio powered by AI. Generate ad copy, static promo images, UGC-style video content, and text-to-speech voiceovers — all generated from your actual product data. You shouldn’t need to hire a video editor or graphic designer to market your shows professionally. The AI knows your inventory, your brand, and your audience, and it creates content tailored to all of it. Think of it like having a marketing team that never sleeps and never asks for a raise.
Campaign Management — Connect your ad accounts and push AI-generated creatives directly to Meta, TikTok, or Google from the same dashboard where you manage inventory. No more tab-hopping between five different tools just to get a promo out the door.
Chrome Extension — A companion browser extension that works directly on whatnot.com. Import sales data with one click, track competitor streams, add inventory from search results, and generate promo content — all without ever leaving the Whatnot site.
The whole stack runs on Cloudflare’s edge infrastructure with a PostgreSQL backend, so it’s fast everywhere in the world. We’re shipping new features every week. If you’re a Whatnot seller who’s tired of duct-taping together spreadsheets, Canva, a notes app, and three browser tabs just to run your business — ProjectX is being built for you.
What’s Next
We’ve got a lot of irons in the fire right now — new sales channels going live, inventory restocking, custom fandom products taking shape, Fanatics follow-ups, and ProjectX getting closer to launch every day. Live shows are on hold, but we are absolutely not slowing down. If anything, this is the phase where we’re building the engine that powers everything that comes next.
More channels = more reach. Better tools = more efficiency. Custom merch = more reasons for fans to get hyped.
Stay tuned — it’s about to get loud around here.
